You will learn more about what stammering is, why it happens, and who is more likely to continue stammering vs who is more likely to stop stammering.

We will discuss and bust some common stammering myths.

You will learn about some useful models which can help us to understand the nature of stammering and how we can support children who stammer. E.g., the iceberg model, the weighing scales model, the comfort-stretch-panic zones model.

You will learn about stammering pride, an empowering and affirming movement which views stammering as a natural and valid speech difference

You will learn about the importance of building children’s confidence, resilience and self-advocacy and some practical activities you can use to do this.

You will receive a digital pack of helpful resources for your school including a recommended children’s reading list, a children’s journal (suitable for 6-11yrs), a stammering facts poster and a how-to-help poster for your staffroom, and positive stammering messages for your school displays.

You will receive the training presentation slides for your records or to share with other staff within your school.
